Job Description Job Description Position Purpose: We are seeking
a skilled Maintenance Worker with a background in construction and
handyperson experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will
be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of our facilities,
ensuring they remain in good condition and meet safety standards.
Under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, the Maintenance
Worker will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation,
cleanliness, and maintenance of JWCH, Wesley Health Center
facilities. This position will play an important role in supporting
the Facilities Manager, clinics' overall functionality, safety, and
compliance with health and safety regulations. This position
requires attention to detail, handyperson skills, basic
construction knowledge, problem-solving skills, and the ability to
collaborate effectively with other staff members. Principal
Responsibilities: Provides assistance to the Maintenance Supervisor
including the upkeep of the JWCH health care clinics, mobile unit,
and other facilities. Maintenance may include and not limited to
painting, roofing, carpentry, equipment operation, and
miscellaneous duties to provide maintenance support. Upkeep
includes general landscaping including mowing and watering the
lawns and plants, and removing dirt, sand, gravel, and weeds.
Perform improvements and renovations which include but are not
limited to installing fixtures, assembling furniture, and repairing
drywall. Cleans all areas of a medical facility such as patient
exam rooms, bathrooms, laboratories, diagnostic testing areas,
staff areas, offices, hallways, waiting rooms. Conducts regular
inspections of the clinic premises to identify and address
maintenance or repair needs. Performs repairs and maintenance
tasks, such as fixing plumbing issues, repairing electrical
systems, and coordinating with external contractors for major
repairs. Maintains and service medical equipment, including routine
checks, calibration, and coordination with equipment vendors for
repairs or replacements. Monitors and maintains heating,
ventilation, and air conditioning systems to ensure proper
functioning and temperature control within the sites. Disinfects
and sterilizes equipment and supplies using germicides. Scrubs and
polishes floors and furniture. Disposes of trash and medical waste
according to medical facility policy. Participate in JWCH’s
customer service training called AIDET on an annual basis.
Demonstrate an understanding of AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce,
Duration, Explanation, and Thank You) to apply in patient
encounters or team discussions. Utilize the AIDET communication
framework to communicate with patients and team members in a manner
that reduces patient anxiety, increases patient compliance, and
improves clinical outcomes. Perform other tasks as assigned.
Requirements: Ability to move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift
and/or move up to 100 pounds. Possess a valid CA Driver's License,
clean driving record and able to travel to different sites Ability
to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, and
holidays, as needed Physical ability to stand for long period of
times. Physical ability to constantly bend, stoop, and stretch.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. The ideal candidate should
possess practical knowledge and experience in the construction
field. Required qualifications include candidates with hands-on
handyman experience in areas such as carpentry, painting, plumbing,
electrical work, and general repairs. *All JWCH, Wesley Health
