with patient population including general medical/surgical, total
joint, and spine surgery - Ability to float between other units and
work on call, weekends Description: Seeking a Medical-Surgical
Registered Nurse for a community hospital. The patient population
includes general medical and surgical patients, as well as those
undergoing total joint and spine surgery. Support services provided
include interpretation, lift teams, pharmacy, phlebotomy, physical
therapy, radiology, rapid response teams, respiratory services,
social services, transportation, and unit secretary support.
Provider coverage is through hospitalists. No first-time travelers
are accepted. This position requires participation in on-call
shifts and weekend work. The telemetry buddy will be responsible
for monitoring telemetry strips. Documentation is completed using
Meditech. Effective communication is essential, practiced through
the SBAR model. Dress code requires blue scrubs; personal scrubs
must be plain with no logos. The position also entails the use of
various medical equipment and procedures, such as blood product
administration, central line blood draws, and peripheral line
care/management. Nurses should be skilled in starting IVs,
administering medications like heparin and insulin, and managing
patients with surgical drains, oxygen needs, and isolation
precautions. Preferred skills include telemetry experience,
interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, colostomy and
feeding tube care, and experience with renal failure and
pre/post-operative care. The unit has a daily census of around 15,
serves adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients, and is
supported by interdisciplinary teams. Candidates must have
experience with rapid response teams. This position requires
compliance with all job qualifications and licensure standards.
