Job Description:

ROLE OVERVIEW and PURPOSE The Employee Experience Summer Intern will participate in a structured, paid internship program at Neighborhood Healthcare designed to provide hands-on experience and professional development while supporting the organization’s mission of serving the community. In this role, the intern will serve as a bridge between administrative-level Employee Experience initiatives and the day-to-day experience of employees at clinic sites. The intern will help gather data, track how initiatives are implemented at the site level, and identify opportunities for improvement—particularly for newer employees and Gen Z team members. The intern will also help identify gaps and propose practical solutions to enhance employee morale, improve communication flow, and increase awareness of professional development opportunities across the organization. This is a full-time (40 hours per week), 8-week summer internship. Start and End Date: 6/1/2026- 7/31/2026 This position requires travel to other sites, particularly in the North Region, to conduct interviews. RESPONSIBILITIES Employee Experience Insights Report summarizing key themes, gaps, and regional differences Communication Flow Map showing how EX initiatives move from admin to site level, including breakdown points Actionable Recommendations for improving morale, communication, and engagement (short-and long-term) Optional Toolkit or Playbook for site leaders or Culture Champions (if time allows) Final Presentation to leadership outlining findings and proposed next steps Culture Champion / Morale Infrastructure Exploration Conduct discovery with site leaders around interest in a Culture Champion or Morale Committee model Identify what already works at different sites (e.g., holidays, WOG, Halloween, wellness activities) Propose a lightweight, scalable structure for site-based morale efforts Leadership Development Awareness & Engagement Review Assess whether average employees understand current leadership development offerings (Ignite, LEAP, PATHway, etc.) Identify gaps in awareness, interest, or accessibility Offer recommendations to improve messaging and engagement Gen Z Learning & Communication Audit Gather data on how Gen Z employees prefer to receive information and learn Compare current training and communication approaches to these preferences Suggest improvements to modality, tone, or delivery Employee Resource Website & Growth Pathway Audit Review Growth and Employee Resource sites for clarity, duplication, and ease of navigation Recommend streamlining and clearer pathways, including role-based examples (e.g., VIA / Metro Line pathways for common roles) Storytelling & Visual Culture Support Partner with Marketing to collect real employee stories and photos Highlight “How We VIA” across sites Support internal storytelling that reinforces culture and belonging INTERNSHIP STRUCTURE Onboarding: Orientation to Neighborhood Healthcare, policies, expectations, and professional development goals Rotational Assignments: Intern will complete assignment with the External Affairs department Internship Review & Capstone: Final reflections, exit interview, and presentation of key learnings and recommendations TRAINING & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROVIDED Gain exposure to multiple facets of Employee Experience in an FQHC, including wellness, learning & development, and communications initiatives Develop skills in data collection, employee interviewing, and thematic analysis Learn how strategic initiatives are translated from the administrative level to frontline teams Build recommendations and practical, site-level solutions for executives and key stakeholders Practice facilitation, stakeholder engagement, and professional communication in a healthcare setting. SUPERVISION & SUPPORT STRUCTURE Internship Coordinator will oversee the intern's experience, provide leadership coaching, and conduct final reflections and the exit interview Project Mentors will provide structures feedback twice weekly, plus informal mentorship throughout the internship Intern and Project Mentors will co-create goals and outcomes to ensure a meaningful and impactful experience EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Preferred Degrees/Fields: Communications, Education, Health Administration, Organizational Development, Marketing, Business (with emphasis on culture or data collection), or Project Management Helpful Experience: Experience in student government, school media/newspaper, athletics or wellness initiatives, or volunteer leadership roles Strong written and verbal communication skills Comfort conducting interviews or focus groups Interest in workplace culture, employee engagement, or organizational psychology ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Familiarity with the legislative process Ability to work independently and take initiative Pay Range : $21.00 per hour Compensation Disclosure: The posted salary range reflects the designated pay grade for this position. While this range represents the broader classification of the role, actual compensation will be based on several factors, including but not limited to: the candidate’s overall knowledge, skills, and experience, market data and industry benchmarks, internal equity within the organization, Budgetary considerations and organizational needs. As a result, placement within the range is not guaranteed, and the full pay grade range may not be utilized.
