Job Description Job Description Trial Attorney (First-Chair) - Los Angeles (Century City) Knight Law Group is hiring a seasoned first-chair trial attorney to lead jury trials and help set trial strategy across a high-volume, high-stakes plaintiff-side docket. You can expect: • First-chair ownership of jury trials, with second-chair support and a team built around execution • A firm that invests in experts, trial presentation, and preparation • Partnership with leadership on trial themes, positioning, and risk strategy • No requirement to originate business or carry a book • A generous bonus structure tied to meaningful performance outcomes What you’ll do • Serve as first chair in jury trials, including voir dire, openings, witness examinations, and closings • Take and defend depositions, including PMQs, senior corporate witnesses, and experts • Drive trial preparation end-to-end: motions in limine jury instructions, verdict forms, trial briefs exhibit/witness lists and trial binders evidentiary strategy and objections • Develop trial strategy in partnership with firm leadership and, when needed, appellate counsel • Prepare fact and expert witnesses and deliver direct/cross examinations with discipline and credibility • Coordinate trial readiness across the team and maintain tight case calendars • Maintain accurate time/activity records and status reporting to support forecasting, allocation, and (where applicable) fee applications What success looks like Within the first 60–90 days, you’re: • fully embedded in our case cadence and standards • confident in our trial prep system and support structure • leading strategy on assigned matters and driving the team’s execution • trusted by partners to run the courtroom without supervision Requirements & Qualifications • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school • California Bar license in good standing • Minimum of 10 years of litigation experience, including multiple first-chair jury trials • Strong trial acumen and courtroom presence • Highly skilled in trial preparation, oral advocacy, and case strategy • Tech-savvy and comfortable operating in a paperless environment • Spanish bilingual skills a plus, but not required • Willingness to travel within California for trials, depositions, and court appearances Compensation & Benefits • Competitive base compensation performance incentives • HMO/PPO Medical Plans • PPO Dental & Vision coverage • STD & LTD Insurance • Basic Life Insurance • Paid Time Off • 401(k) • 529 College Savings Plan & Pet Insurance • Weekly staff breakfast and lunch Location: This is a full-time onsite role based in our Century City office.
